Preparations for the Jubilee of 2023 and 2024.
Papa Francesco has invited the faithful to dedicate the two years preceding the Jubilee to specific spiritual and religious themes. The first year should be centered on rediscovering the teachings of the Council, while the second should focus on prayer. During this first year, the faithful are encouraged to deepen their understanding of the four conciliar constitutions, fundamental documents that address:
- the Liturgy (Sacrosanctum Concilium);
- the Church (Lumen Gentium);
- Sacred Scripture (Dei Verbum);
- the Church's relationship with the contemporary world (Gaudium et Spes).
After the year dedicated to the study of the documents, 2024 will instead be the year of prayer.
Hymn of the Jubilee 2025
Singing is an element that integrates perfectly with prayer, as demonstrated by the importance of sacred music in the Church's tradition. For the Jubilee, a hymn has been composed by musician Pierangelo Sequeri, titled:
"Pilgrims of Hope"
This text reflects the key themes of this Jubilee, such as creation, fraternity, God's tenderness, and hope in our ultimate destination.
Events of the Jubilee 2025
The Jubilee year will begin on the eve of Christmas 2024, with the opening ceremony of the Holy Doors in Rome. The churches involved in this solemn event will be St. Peter's, St. John Lateran, St. Paul Outside the Walls, and St. Mary Major.
Throughout the Jubilee year, the capital will host numerous cultural and entertainment events, including exhibitions and concerts, to celebrate this special period.
The logo of the Jubilee 2025
The logo of Jubilee 2025 features four stylized figures embracing, each in a different color, representing humanity from the four corners of the earth. This embrace symbolizes solidarity and brotherhood. The first figure clings to the cross, a sign of welcoming faith and hope.
Beneath these figures, waves symbolize the challenges of the pilgrimage of life, indicating that personal experiences and historical events can make some moments more difficult. It is in these moments that holding fast to faith and hope is crucial. The lower part of the cross extends beneath the waves and transforms into an anchor, a traditional symbol of hope. At the same time, the cross is not static: it curves towards the faithful, embodying presence and security, as if reaching out to them.
Finally, in green, the Motto of Jubilee 2025 is displayed: "Peregrinantes in Spem," or "Pilgrims of Hope."
Thus, the logo fully captures the meaning and value of this Jubilee, serving as an effective symbol.
